1.000 extra parking spots for bikes!
Many citizens and visitors arrive in the city centre of Wageningen by bicycle instead of travelling by car. The municipality of Wageningen is very pleased with this habit. However, it's very common that bicycles are parked within the shopping streets itself. As a result, the parked bicycles take up valuable space within the pedestrian area's and therefore less space is available to keep at least 1.5-meter distance from others.
That's why the municipality, in consultation with the shopkeepers, has made 1000 extra bicycle parking space available within the city centre. All those travelling by bicycle can now, for at least the upcoming 6 weeks, temporarily park their bicycle at those spots. You will find the extra parking place for bicycle on the outskirts of the shopping streets and on the Markt. There are clear signs to indicate the parking spots. In addition, there will be a friendly request to not park your bicycle in the Hoogstraat.
