Free cycling trip: Second World War in Wageningen
Exploring Wageningen and Surroundings is organizing a free guided cycling trip on 4 May 2014. On this day, we remember the history of WWII and pay our respects to those wo perished during the War.
Wageningen played an important role in ending the second World War in the Netherlands. Due to the presence of a defense line, the city was evacuated and fought over twice. If you know where to look, you can still see the marks of these events on some buildings.
The bicycle tour takes you through the city center and to the Grebbelinie (the defence system near Rhenen). There will be room for sharing personal and/or national stories along the way!
